The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Dr James Reilly launched a new national strategy intended to ensure that children and young people have a voice in decision making that affects their lives. In a first for Europe, the Minister has launched the National Strategy on Children and Young People’s Participation in Decision Making (2015-2020).

The Area Based Childhood (ABC) Programme is a cross-departmental initiative announced in the Programme for Government. The ABC programme targets investment in evidence-informed interventions to improve the long-term outcomes for children and families living in areas of disadvantage.
