The County Carlow Children and Young People's Services Committee was re-established in October 2015
In 2010 a multi-agency group came together in Carlow and was supported to develop the County Carlow Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CCCYPSC). This committee worked throughout 2010 to develop an inclusive membership and set up structures through which it would operate. In 2011 it appointed a Co-ordinator and drew up its Children and Young People’s Plan 2011-2013.
The implementation of the plan has been affected through the development of subgroups of relevant agencies and has been an opportunity to engage a broad range of services in interagency working. It has also provided a means for agencies to inform each other of the services which they provide.
Among the achievements of the CCCYPSC to date has been the development of an integrated calendar of Parenting Programmes and Supports, the development of a Critical Incident Protocol, and the collation and analysis of data on referrals to social work and children in care in Carlow.
In 2013 the Children & Young People's Plan (CYPP) was completed and reviewed in early 2014. In October 2015 the CYPSC was re-convened and meets approximately every 8 weeks to advance the drawing up of its next 3-year CYPP. An Audit of Services and Needs Analysis is currently being carried out to inform this plan and a number of subgroups are also consulting with a broad range of agencies and individuals to identify the most pressing needs for children and young people in the county.
