Laois Offaly Children & Young People's Services Committee

The Laois Offaly Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC) was set up in 2017 as part of phase 6 of the national rollout.

The first Laois Offaly CYPSC meeting was held on April 5th 2017.

The committee developed emerging priorities by conducting consultations with children and young people in Laois & Offaly, as a starting pont in the committees plannning process, which is available here.

Through the course of formalising the CYPSC committee and subgroups, it is evident that there is a strong commitment to work together on collaborative initiatives across all outcome areas. The level of experience, knowledge and initiatives across professionals and volunteers working in Laois and Offaly is a real asset to the work of the CYPSC.

The committee is made up from partners across the state and voluntary sector, as detailed here.

The CYPSC researched and constructed a 3-Year Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) based on the consultations in Laois/Offaly and the indicators for the Better Outcomes Brighter Futures (BOBF) 5 key outcome areas, to assure that the activities undertaken are aligned with National Strategy.

The 5 key outcome areas are: 1) Active and healthy-physical and mental wellbeing, 2) Achieving full potential in learning and development, 3) Safe and protected from harm, 4) Economic security and opportunity, and 5) Connected, respected and contributing to their world.

A link to the current Laois Offaly CYPP can be found on the left-hand side of this page, with an updated plan pending.
