Online Training:

START online training programme is a  90 MINUTE ONLINE LIVINGWORKS START SUICIDE PREVENTION SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMME.

Face to face trainings

SafeTALK

safeTALK : A 3.5 hour suicide alertness programme that prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. The minimum number of participants required to run this training is 12 and maximum is 30. This course can be arranged for either the morning (typically starting 9.30am) or evening (typically starting 6.30pm).

ASIST

ASIST: 2 day intensive, interactive, and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognise risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The minimum number of participants required to run this training is 18 and maximum is again 30. If possible, we tend to run our ASIST training midweek (Wednesday & Thursday).

*It is highly recommended that participants attend the safeTALK prior to ASIST and participants should be 1 year post bereavement before attending either of the training sessions.

Understanding Self Harm

Understanding Self Harm: This one day awareness training programme covers issues relating to self-harm including definitions, prevalence rates, myths, causes, why people self-harm and helpful responses. DVD clips containing contributions from service providers and individuals with lived life experience of self-harm supplement the programme. Minimum numbers of participants required to run this training is  12 and a maximum of 20

Suicide Bereavement Workshops

Post-vention Workshop:  The Suicide Bereavement Training for Professionals is a one day training where participants’ awareness of the unique aspects associated with suicide bereavement is enhanced. Participants develop greater understanding and awareness of support needed for people who have lost someone through suicide. Minimum numbers of participants required to run this training is  12 and a maximum of 20

Understanding Grief - A guide for young People

This leaflet was developed with young people who took part in a mental health group through The Letterkenny Youth Information Centre in 2020 and was officially launched in August 2021.
