Local Resources: Active and Healthy

New Perinatal Wellbeing Video Series

Having a baby can be both a joyful and worrying time. This series of 8 videos, compiled by HSE Psychology Service, aims to help parents to understand that their feelings and experiences are normal at this time and offer suggestions for themselves and where to get further help if needed.  The videos share ideas on how parents can develop their bond with their baby and how to “build a healthy baby”.  The series offers practical psychological support that can help parents manage and care for themselves, while they, in turn, care for their new-born. .

By pursuing a strategy that simultaneously supports parents and childcare facilities to deliver active play opportunities to our 0 to 3 year olds, services can maximise the potential of virtuous “positive feedback loops” to establish healthier lifestyles for future generations.

This is the principal finding of a new research study undertaken jointly by the Applied Systems Thinking Group in NUI, Galway and the HSE’s Galway Health Promotion and Improvement Unit as part of the programme of work being implemented by the Early Years Sub-Group of Galway Children and Young People’s Services Group.
