Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV) Resources

Domestic, sexual, gender-based violence (DSGBV) has a detrimental effect on the emotional, financial, physical, and social wellbeing of families and children. In this section you will find links to all of the local CYPSC resources that have been collaboratively developed to support professionals’ who are working with children and families who are experiencing or have experienced DSGBV.  Some helpful publications on projects being delivered by DSGBV services around the country is also provided.  In some instances, local CYPSC have produced their localised resources building on the work of another CYPSC. In these circumstances the resources were shared between a number of CYPSC areas and then a toolkit, customised for the particular CYPSC area, was developed.

CARLOW CYPSC

Carlow CYPSC in partnership with the Local Area Domestic Abuse Action Network produced Enough is Enough Stop Domestic Abuse.  The resource pack is designed to provide professionals who are working with children, young people and families experiencing domestic violence information on the relevant services and resources available in Carlow.

CAVAN CYPSC

Cavan CYPSC and Monaghan CYPSC jointly developed the Shine Series of resources to support children and young people to explore and manage their emotions while learning about healthy relationships, boundaries, and staying safe.  A Healthy Relationships Guide for Young Children under 8 years, for Young Children 8-12yrs and for Young People are designed for use by facilitators working with children and young people who have completed domestic violence and children first training.

CORK CYPSC

Cork CYPSC Safe and Protected Subgroup was set up to highlight needs, gaps and solutions in relation to keeping children, young people and families safe and protected.  The group partner with relevant organisations to deliver DSGBV training to frontline staff.  Contact Cork CYPSC Co-ordinator  for more information.      

Cork TLC KIDZ Programme is a community coordinated response for children and mothers in recovery from domestic violence.  The Programme is run over 12 weeks and is available to children and young people aged between 5-17 years and their mothers.  The children and young people’s and the mother’s groups run concurrently on the same week. 

West Cork Beacon formerly known as West Cork Women Against Violence is a DSGBV service located in West Cork.  In 2022 the Listen to me. Support me. Believe me. Help me research report was launched.  This report built on the findings of previous research conducted by West Cork Beacon and details plans for the development of a new sexual violence project in West Cork.  For more information visit West Cork Beacon

DONEGAL CYPSC

Donegal CYPSC with a number of interagency partners produced the Donegal Domestic Abuse Resource Pack as a support for professionals working in frontline services who encounter victims of domestic violence.  The pack details the statutory, community and voluntary services located in Donegal who offer advice, information, intervention and safe accommodation.

TLC Kidz Programme is run over 12 weeks in Donegal during school terms for children and young people aged between 5 to 16 years; in appropriate age groups depending and on available resources .  The children and young people's and mothers’ groups run concurrently.   The aim is to support women on how to best help their child in healing from the impact of abuse.

DUBLIN CITY NORTH CYPSC

Dublin City North CYPSC in partnership with multiple agencies produced Dublin City North Domestic Abuse Resource Pack to raise awareness of domestic violence.  It is designed to support frontline services to recognise, respond and refer people experiencing domestic violence to the relevant support service in Dublin City North.

Fingal CYPSC in collaboration with multiple interagency partners working together to highlight awareness of domestic violence produced the Fingal Domestic Abuse Resource Pack Domestic Abuse is Everyone’s Business.  This Resource Pack is designed to support frontline services to recognise, respond and refer cases of domestic violence to the appropriate services and to ensure that a clear pathway for support is identified where necessary.

Longford Westmeath Domestic Abuse Local Area Network, under the auspices of Longford Westmeath CYPSC developed the Longford Westmeath Domestic Abuse Resource Pack.  The pack is designed as a toolkit for professionals working within statutory, community and voluntary services who support people experiencing any form of domestic abuse in the area of Longford and Westmeath.

The pack was produced in ebook format to support an increase in the knowledge and skills among practitioners on the impact of domestic violence on children, young people and their families; and provides a list of local resources to facilitate seamless referrals.

Sligo Leitrim CYPSC’s Safe and Protected from Harm Subgroup produced the Sligo Leitrim Domestic Violence and  Coercive Control Resource Handbook that outlines the services available to women in Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence and coercive control.

The CYPSC Sligo Leitrim commissioned report Evidence-informed, and peer reviewed programmes and interventions targeted at children and young people to support them through their lived experience of domestic violence includes recommendations for the development of supports and interventions for children and young people to support them through their lived experience of domestic violence.

Supports and Services available to Children and Young people affected by Domestic Violence across Sligo and Leitrim was conducted on behalf of CYPSC’s Domestic Violence Working Group.  The findings advocate the necessity for early intervention and prevention to avert the lasting impacts of exposure to domestic violence on children and young people.

WICKLOW CYPSC

Wicklow CYPSC provided the funding to publish the Co. Wicklow Domestic Abuse Resource Pack: Tips to help keep you and your family safe to support women who are experiencing domestic abuse. The pack's content is based on feedback received from women on the type of information that was most helpful to them when they first looked to access support services as victims of domestic violence.
