A Children and Young People's Services Committees Implementation Workshop is being held by the Centre for Effective Services (CES) on 11th February 2015. The Workshop will hear from practitioners with national and international expertise in Implementation Science including Allison Metz, PhD, Director of the National Implementation Research Network, USA.

This is a practical workshop where CYPSC Co-ordinators, Chairpersons, Deputy Chairpersons and CYPSC members will learn about the field of 'Implementation' and apply that learning with CYPSC colleagues to how each county's CYPSC is working.

It is a great opportunity for CYPSC members to gather outside of regular meeting time to reflect on current practice.

The objectives of the Workshop are:

  • To develop a common understanding of 'Implementation Science'
  • To explore implementation concepts in relation to CYPSC alongside CYPSC members from other counties
  • To consider how each CYPSC can apply the learning for better implementation
  • To reflect on how Implementation Science can be applied to each CYPSC member's 'day job'

What is Implementation?

A lot of knowledge and evidence has been gathered in recent years, about what works in 'social services'. However, outcomes for children, young people and families may not have improved in line with advances in knowledge. This deficit has become known as the 'implementation gap'. At its simplest therefore, implementation can be described as the carrying out of a plan for doing something. It focuses on operationalising the plan - the How, rather than the What. Click here to read more on implementation.

How do I sign up?

The workshop is open to members of Children and Young People's Services Committees.  CYPSC members should RSVP to

stating which CYPSC they are a member of.
