The Sligo Leitrim Directory (www.sligoleitrimdirectory.ie) is a new website which provides official listings of over 110 services for children, young people and families in Sligo and Leitrim.
The Sligo Leitrim Directory was developed by the Sligo Leitrim Youth Mental Health Initiative in conjunction with the Sligo Leitrim Children and Young People’s Services Committee. It is funded by a number of statutory and community and voluntary agencies in Sligo and Leitrim.
The Sligo Leitrim Directory includes information on health, mental health, education, disability, youth, childcare and other services. The purpose of the website is to provide a central point of information on services in Sligo and in Leitrim for children, young people, families and professionals in both online and in a printable format. The directory and website are ‘user-friendly’ and easily accessed.
The website was launched on 13th January 2016 at the Council Chamber, Sligo County Council Offices, Riverside, Sligo. The launch was attended by the Cathaoirleach from Sligo County Council, Rosaleen O’Grady. Two members of Sligo Comhairle na nÓg, Gillian Hayes and Hannah Scanlon acted as MCs at the event and launched the website.
Mark O’Callaghan, Chair of the Sligo Leitrim Youth Mental Health Initiative, gave a background to the project and outlined the development of the website. Anne Brennan, Youth Information Officer, North Connaught Youth and Community Service (NCYCS) provided an overview of the website, assisted by Graham Glynn, staff member at OSD Digital, the company engaged to design and deliver the website. John Hayes, Chief Officer, Community Healthcare Organisation 1, Health Service Executive (HSE), spoke of the value of the directory and the website and the effectiveness of good interagency co-operation in developing both.
