Creating optimum conditions for Connection, being Responsive to context and delivering Originality and Beauty in experiences. These are some of the key ingredients of this Baby Theatre…

Following a couple of years successful collaboration between CYPSC and Theatre Director Anna Newell we are back for more.  The I AM BABA Autumn Tour 2023 kicks off in September and CYPSC is really pleased to play its part.

Supporting 132 performances over 44 days for the youngest of audiences in 41 community based venues large and small, and always local, 14 CYPSC are working in partnerships to bring the Creative Arts to babies and their care givers. I AM BABA is a magical theatre adventure of song, lights and textures for babies aged between 0-12 months created especially for them by theatre director Anna Newell and composer David Goodall.

Exposure to the Arts through productions like I AM BABA is extremely important for very young children as it has developmental benefits including speech and language development. I AM BABA will also provide parents, guardians and their babies with an opportunity to explore new ways to play in a unique and comfortable environment and can encourage further participation in other arts events.

The CYPSC Network continues to be privileged to work with Anna Newell and colleagues to realise children’s right to high-quality Arts experiences. In a bespoke workshop for CYPSC last year Theatre Director Anna Newell generously shared some of the principles underpinning her creative approach.  These are

Connection - creating optimum conditions for connection

Responsiveness – embracing the Where we are, Who we are with and How we are

Originality – realising novelty and innovation through creativity

Beauty – introducing audiences to beauty that fills hearts.

Inspired by these principles CYPSC is committed to continuing to consider the Arts not simply as a once-off activity or event but as a methodology for how services and supports are provided.

CYPSC-sponsored performances of I AM BABA are taking place in Carlow, Cavan, Donegal, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo Leitrim, Waterford and Wicklow.

Take a look at the Calendar of CYPSC-sponsored performance dates.  You can contact the relevant local CYPSC Co-ordinator for more information.
