Staff from Gaisce The President's Award and CYPSC staff participated in a joint workshop to explore the creation of a system to increase and strengthen CYPSC youth participation.

The workshop was designed by CYPSC and Gaisce with the purpose of exploring the viability of a partnership arrangement that would enable the participation of young people (18-24 years of age) in decision-making through CYPSC across Ireland and on the CYPSC National Steering Group.  The vision is to have a broad range of young people engaged in CYPSC committees and ensure that they have a variety of positive experiences of participation including influence.

Representatives from CYPSC in Sligo Leitrim, Clare, Kerry, Meath, Kildare and Donegal alongside the National Co-ordinator for CYPSC attended the workshop with the Gaisce delegation led by their Operations and Development Manager.

An external facilitator ensured the most effective use of time, ensuring quality discussions and recording findings and learning into a workshop report.

The shared result of the workshop was an agreement in principle to create a productive partnership.

Future steps are being planned and will be initiated in the second half of 2019.
