The Department of Children and Youth Affairs launches the National Youth Strategy 2015 - 2020 on the 8th October 2015. Development of the Strategy has  been informed by extensive consultation with young people, those working with young people, and key stakeholders.

The National Youth Strategy 2015-2020 has its basis in Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures: the National Policy Framework for children and young people 2014 – 2020 and in particular its youth-specific commitments. While it is a universal strategy for all young people, it provides for the needs of young people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, poorer outcomes.

The Strategy sets out Government’s aim and objectives for young people over 2015 to 2020 so that they may be

  • active and healthy,
  • achieving their full potential in learning and development,
  • safe and protected from harm,
  • have economic security and opportunity and
  • be connected, respected and contributing to their world.

It shows how Government departments and State agencies are already working to achieve these objectives.

The launch will take place in Bluebell Youth and Community Centre at 3pm. RSVP to nysconsultation@dcya.gov.ie.
