Sub Group:  ABC Start Right

Start Right is an early intervention and prevention programme operating on the southside of Limerick City. It links and integrates the child, family and local services and communities in the area. It seeks to enhance the capacity of parents, families and services to work collaboratively toward better child outcomes and to develop integrated work practices and resource-sharing in the early year’s sector across statutory, community and voluntary agencies.

Restorative Practices

Chair: Darren Broomfield, Young Person’s Probation

National Outcome: Connected, respected & contributing to their world

The Restorative Practices Sub-group works to support the development of a Restorative Practice Approach in Limerick City and to act as a coordinating body for restorative approaches in Limerick City.

Research and Learning

Chair: Margaret Mastriani, Limerick CYPSC Coordinator

The Research and Learning Sub-group works to provide research  and evaluation expertise and advice to the Children and Young People's Services Committee, to keep the CYPSC informed of key pieces of research and their implications for policy and practice and to advise the CYPSC on issues for future research.

Parenting Limerick

Parenting Limerick is a network of organisations that provide parenting and family support in Limerick City. The network is working together to provide parents with information and support appropriate to their needs and to develop an integrated approach to the provision of parenting supports.

Homemaker Family Support Service Management Committee

Chair: Margaret Mastriani, CYPSC Co-ordinator

The Homemaker Family Support Service Management Committee oversees the development and delivery of the Homemaker Service.

Mainstreaming/Early Years Advisory Group

Chair: Stephanie Whyte, Barnardos

National Outcome: Achieving full potential in all areas of learning & development

The Early Years Advisory Group works to support the design, delivery and integration of services available to young children, from birth to six, and their families to Identify issues and challenges within the sector (e.g. resources, funding, societal value) and support the CYPSC to identify opportunities and find creative solutions.

Prevention, Partnership and Family Support Sub-group

Chair: To be decided

This sub committee will:

  • Advise and help in the set up of Child and Family Support Networks and of the identification and reassignment of CFSN Co-ordinator(s),
  • Provide support and assistance to ensure that the functions of LAPS are implemented,
  • Oversee the transfer of LANS to LAPS.
