The Department of Children and Youth Affairs has launched Shared Vision, Next Steps 2019 - 24 providing a road map for the further development of the CYPSC initiative over the next five years.
Speaking at the launch Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone said CYPSC are ensuring that our services and supports are planned and co-ordinated in a way that is responsive and relevant to the needs of children and young people.
Conor Rowley, Principal Officer at the Department of Children and Youth Affairs welcomed those in attendance acknowledging the signficant progress made in the establishemnt of CYPSC in every county in Ireland. He praised the work and leadership of CYPSC co-ordinators, CYPSC chairpersons, CYPSC members and the National Co-ordinator for CYPSC in embedding a culture of inter-agency collaboration in Ireland.
John Cole Assistant Principal Officer at DCYA provided a high level summary of the strategy document and spoke of his enthusiasm for working with all stakeholders to deliver on this new CYPSC strategy.
National Co-ordinator for CYPSC, Colma Nic Lughadha and local CYPSC Co-ordinators Tracey Holt from Cork CYPSC and Nuala Nic Giobuin from Dublin City South CYPSC presented an overview of CYPSC best practice. The National Co-ordinator called on those in attendance to consider how they in their roles can support inter-agency collaboration through CYPSC; and ensure that their organisation has the right people at the CYPSC table.
Cork CYPSC Co-ordinator, Tracey, described how Cork is responding to support the development needs of children and young people experiencing homelessness. Nuala from Dublin City South described an exciting new on-line service directory called dublincypscdirectory.ie that is supporting families and services that work with children, young people and families to find the service they need, when they need it.
