A new Homework Club for children living in the Ballybane area of Galway City was officially launched by Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Noel Larkin.
Angela Toolis, Area Manager, Tusla Child and Family Agency and Chair of Galway CYPSC explained at the launch, held on Monday 7th of November, that the Homework Club is the result of a collaborative approach co-ordinated by Galway CYPSC. This involved statutory service providers, local enterprise and the local community all working in partnership to deliver this project for children in Ballybane.
Such is the demand for the service that all 56 places have been filled for the 2016/2017 academic year, and children attending the club can expect sessions to comprise hard work and good fun in equal measure.
Tommy Flaherty (Chair Rainbow Childcare Centre), Angela Toolis (Area Manager with Tusla, the Child and Family Agency), Mayor of Galway City, Cllr. Noel Larkin, Michael Smyth (SCCUL Enterprises), Phil Grealish (St. Columba's Credit Union), Nollaig Rabbitte (Galway City East School Completion Programme) and Fionnuala Foley (Galway City and County Childcare Committee).
