Over 70 services attended the online launch of the first interagency plan to improve health, education, safety and civic participation for children and young people living in the county of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The Children & Young People’s Plan 2020-2022 was created by the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC), an interagency structure chaired by Tusla - Child and Family Agency to plan and co-ordinate services for children and young people in every county in Ireland.

Nearly one-third (32%) or 69,581 of the population in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are under 24 years of age.

This first Children & Young People’s Plan for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown details the socio-demographic characteristics of the child and youth population, the range of needs identified, and the 30 priority projects agreed by over 100 senior managers from statutory, community and voluntary services and young leaders.

As part of the digital launch, a dynamic video was created featuring 30 of the different services and projects that have been initiated by the CYPSC in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, including the innovative new youth mental health hub www.LetsTalkDLR.ie, which was co-produced locally by young people and services.  You can watch the video here:

Lorna Kerin, Co-ordinator, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown CYPSC, said:

Services and young people have worked so hard together during the last couple of years to produce what is a truly excellent, informative and inspirational plan that will help improve the lives of many children and young people. I would urge anyone interested in children and young people’s wellbeing to take a few minutes to either watch the video or to read the plan that is now on the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown page of the national website, www.cypsc.ie

Through video, Tusla CEO, Bernard Gloster, thanked the 140 services and the 200 young people involved in creating the plan and spoke about the importance of interagency working to provide agile responses to needs, and to improve outcomes for children and young people.  You can watch Bernard Gloster's important contribution here:
