Minister for Children and Youth Affairs James Reilly TD will attend the CYPSC National Seminar taking place on the 18th June 2015 in Dublin.  “A bhaint amach le chéile do leanaí & do dhaoine óga” is the Irish translation for this gathering dedicated to the development of interagency working for children and young people across Ireland.

What’s it about?

The overarching aim for the day will be to profile CYPSC as a key interagency structure for realising the five national outcomes for children and young people in Ireland; embracing all sectors and levels in policy implementation.

The event will

  • promote and showcase the work of the local committees in alignment with the five national outcomes for children and young people
  • create a space for knowledge exchange between local CYPSC
  • disseminate best practice of CYPSC
  • outline the relationship between CYPSC and new Government policy, reinforcing connections between local CYPSC and national policy implementation
  • facilitate networking between CYPSC, and between CYPSC and other stakeholders
  • surface key issues and key learning from CYPSC for presentation to local and national partners

Who should attend?

Members of Children and Young People’s Services Committees the length and breadth of Ireland are invited to participate in this one-day working event where they will be engaged in “thinking and doing” for the development of CYPSC.

What will actually happen on the day?

Proceedings will be opened by Fergal Lynch Secretary General of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. The Minster for Children and Youth Affairs James Reilly TD will officially launch our national website www.cypsc.ie and the forthcoming Blueprint for the development of Children and Young People’s Services Committees, which the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) currently has out for consultation.

The morning will comprise of

  • National input on Government policy and implementation with a specific focus on the strong mandate for CYPSC as the local vehicle for planning and co-ordination of services for children and young people.
  • Real world implementation from around Ireland with up to five CYPSC presenting on their work to improve outcomes for children and young people through interagency working; informed by evidence of what works and in alignment with the five national outcomes for children and young people.
  • A questions and answers session where attendees can follow up on aspects of the presentations made by local CYPSC with a view to applying the learning in their own county / committee.

In the afternoon CYPSC members and invited guests will convene in roundtable discussion on the inter-relationship between policy, provision and practice and formulate pointers for development of CYPSC and services for children and young people, for consideration by the CYPSC National Steering Group and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. This will be followed by a plenary to consolidate the exchange of views and learning from the roundtable discussions and to bring the day’s work to a close.

How do I rsvp?

If you are a member of a local Children and Young People’s Services Committee you should contact your local CYPSC Co-ordinator for details on how you can attend on behalf of your committee. Other enquiries can be directed to the National Co-ordinator for Children and Young People’s Services Committees here.

This is an energetic and well attended event that provides opportunities for practitioners, managers, policy makers and funders to meet, exchange knowledge and learn about the possibilities of interagency working for children, young people and families.
