‘Lens on Domestic Violence. Sligo Leitrim Response to Children and Young People’

Sligo Leitrim CYPSC  Safe and Protected from Harm Working Group, created a Child and Youth Domestic Violence Working Group in 2021. One of the actions of the Domestic Violence Working Group is to raise awareness and educate young people in relation to domestic violence and coercive control.

To progress the actions of the group, an Awareness Raising and Training Event has been arranged entitled ‘Lens on Domestic Violence. Sligo Leitrim Response to children and Young People’.

Attendees will hear from a range of skilled and experienced local, national, and international Domestic Violence Practitioners and they will also receive local resources.

Professor Jane Callaghan, the Director of the Centre for Child Wellbeing and Protection at the University of Stirling, Scotland, and Lisa Fellin, Associate Professor at the University of Bergamo and Critical Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Family Therapist will explore how frontline professionals such as youth workers, gardai, social workers, medical professionals, etc might support young people impacted by domestic abuse. They will use an interactive, workshop based approach to explore how young people experience and live with coercive control and domestic violence, and how this permeates family life.

Sligo Leitrim CYPSC  Safe and Protected from Harm Working Group is inviting professionals across all disciplines to attend the event.
