In celebration of Infant Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, Mayo CYPSC, in partnership with the Mayo Infant Mental Health Forum produced 'Mayo Baby Week'.

Weaning Workshop - Hosted by Community Dietitian Heather Miller. Are you weaning your baby or planning to wean? Find out how, when and what to feed your baby! Ask questions or just listen.

Infant Mental Health Promotional Stand - Mayo Infant Mental Health Forum will be hosting an Information Stand in the foyer of Mayo University Hospital from Monday 10th – Thursday 13th June 2024.  The Stand will be open to hospital visitors and staff.  It aims to raise awareness of what we mean by Infant Mental Health, and to let people know what they can do in their own community to enhance and strengthen the emotional and social development of babies and young children.  As well as loads of information and resources, there will be a competition to enter, with some lovely prizes.  *You never know who you might bump into!

Mayo University Hospital Foyer – Monday June 10th – Thursday June 13th 9am – 3pm daily.

FLUTTER-BY is an interactive performance inspired by the sounds of nature. This sensory adventure will transport you deep into the woodland, from dawn to dusk, where you’ll discover all kinds of creatures through the wonder of sound, movement, imagery and touch. Art Crawl!  – where babies (and their parents too!) are encouraged to crawl amongst the artwork in Ballina Art Centre exhibition space. Then, in the workshop space which will be lined with butchers paper, the little ones will be set free (with paints) to create a response, inspired by classical music. The pieces created will be put on display – an art exhibition of the babies work!

Preparing for and Coping with New Parenthood with Dr. Jeananne Garavan - Expecting and parenting a  baby can be a very happy time but it may also feel daunting and overwhelming. Join senior clinical psychologist Dr. Jeananne Garavan for this free talk that will focus on your emotional wellbeing, getting to know your baby, and being a 'good enough' parent.

Building Baby from Head to Toe - This is an introductory workshop for parents and caregivers from pregnancy to 2 years old on the topic of Infant Mental Health. This workshop highlights how everyday interactions can support early brain development. It also looks at the ways in which parents/caregivers can support their baby’s social and emotional wellbeing, while nurturing their relationship too. Topics include: Early Brain Development; Nurturing Touch; Emotional Attunement; Communication; Socioemotional Play and Soothing Distress (co-regulation).
