Roscommon Youth Work Fair

Roscommon CYPSC recently supported a Youth Work Fair which was the first event of its kind in the county.  The Fair entitled “Creativity in Youth Work Fair” focused on creative approaches to youth work and the potential of entrepreneurship and creativity for young people in the County.

The CYPSC Co-ordinator was part of the Regional Alliance which organised this event under the Youth Enterprise through Arts Project (YEA) , which also consisted of membership from Roscommon Leader Partnership, Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board, Roscommon County Council, Tusla Child and Family Agency and Youth Work Ireland.

The event which took place at Kilbride Community Centre on Saturday 8th October 2016, was attended by young people, youth leaders from the County and surrounding Counties. The event showcased facilities for young people in the County. A total of thirty seven organisations and groups had information stands at the event including Foróige, Youth Work Ireland, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Scouting Ireland and the Girl Guides.

A Directory of Youth Services in the County was launched and a creative mosaic, funded by Roscommon CYPSC, which was created during the event by young people and youth leaders.

Fergal O’Donnell, Juvenile Liaison Officer, An Garda Síochána

Catherine Simon, Roscommon County Youth Theatre,

Neil Patrick Collins, Creative Entrepreneur,

Enda Mahon, Young Entrepreneur Winner, 2015,  

Philip Tyndall, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist,

Aisling Cartmill from Belfast Resource Centre. 

There was also input on the day from lending institutions.
